The wind has spoken, time to go
From the highest branch to the ground below
Letting go my mother’s hand will I walk can I stand?
The branch that held me now sheds my stem
On my way to the floor, on my way, on my own
A leaf too old to stay at home, a leaf too young to be alone
Will gravity be kind, with whom will my life entwine?
The wind blows, a kite flying free, no strings, no line on me
Passing others in my flight, where are you going in this night?
Hundreds of trees thousands of leaves each floating in space and time
The Sun is rising a gentle breeze, like a hawk I fly
Circling skies feeling warm, feeling sound, seeing beauty all around
Oh! Who is she that catches my sight? Her beauty shining in the light
It’s music that I hear, luminous sounds that reach my ear
An angel flying, singing, dancing in the sun
A leaf like me, like me! Oh whence did thy come?
Gravity all astray, no other do I see
Adjust my wings, adjust my course, my heart belongs to thee
She sees my flight, responds to mine
The wind blows two directions at one time
She from the west me from the east, in the center we will meet
Our bodies kiss! The winds are kind, together falling to the ground
Swaying from side to side no division do we find
The earth provides our gentle bed, from the heavens we are led
